Shogun is an English fertiliser brand that wanted to create something exceptional - not just another set of ordinary fertilisers. They knew they could achieve this only through years of scientific research and development, careful testing and large-scale use. Under the leadership of Dr Callie Seaman, who has more than twenty years of experience in the field, the Shogun team succeeded.

The innovative SmartZen and AquaZen ingredients, developed specifically for Shogun fertilisers, are completely unique and give the grower a trump card that is hard to beat. Together with carefully selected ingredients, they create nutrition that is stable, reliable and effective. The consistent quality of the products is tested by an independent laboratory, so you can rely on finding only the best in every bottle.

SmartZen is contained in all Shogun base fertilisers - Terra, Coco and Hydro. This secret ingredient, developed over eight years, is found only in Shogun products, because they guard it closely. And no wonder - it improves nutrient uptake and transport within the plant, increases chlorophyll density and the rate of photosynthesis, and reduces the effects of abiotic stress. In short, you can look forward to a 6-8% increase in final yield compared with fertilisers that do not have SmartZen - even if the NPK and everything else is the same.

AquaZen is another secret ingredient in Shogun fertilisers. It has all the benefits of SmartZen, but is optimised for growing in coco substrates, which is why you will find it in Shogun Coco. Coco is one of the most popular growing media because it has countless advantages over classic soil, but problems can occur with irrigation distribution. With AquaZen, the liquid passes evenly through the substrate instead of simply flowing through the centre and settling at the bottom of the growing container. The roots therefore have better access to water - and to the nutrients in the fertiliser.

In the Shogun range you will find a base fertiliser for plants grown in soil substrates, Terra Grow for the vegetative phase and Terra Bloom for flowering. For coco, there is the two-part nutrition Coco A+B, dosed together throughout the entire growing cycle. The hydroponic system fertiliser has the most components - because the growth Hydro Grow A+B and flowering Hydro Bloom A+B are split into two parts, you can dose the nutrients precisely according to the individual needs of the plants.

Among our customers, the Katana Roots stimulator is popular, as it supports the development of the root system, and for increasing the productivity of flowering plants we recommend Sumo Active Boost. You can speed up ripening with the Dragon Force stimulator, which also effectively increases the content of resin and aromatic substances in the final product.

For fertiliser dosing, you can use Shogun charts or their calculator. In the calculator, you enter which growing medium you use, the size of your tank, the EC of the input water and the fertilising intensity. Based on this information, you receive a dosing chart in which you tick the products you use (additives and stimulators), and the chart adjusts so that it exactly matches your conditions.

Frequently asked questions about Shogun fertilisers

Which Shogun base fertiliser should you choose according to the medium?

Follow what you grow in. Use Terra Grow and Terra Bloom for soil, the two-part Coco A+B for coco, and Hydro A+B for hydroponics. Each range is fine-tuned to the behaviour of the given substrate.

What does the SmartZen ingredient do?

SmartZen is a patented additive in all Shogun base fertilisers. It improves nutrient uptake and transport within the plant, increases chlorophyll density and the rate of photosynthesis, and reduces abiotic stress. According to the manufacturer, it contributes to a 6-8% increase in yield compared with the same fertiliser without it.

Why are Coco and Hydro fertilisers split into A and B components?

If the concentrated nutrients were in one bottle, some elements (for example calcium and sulphates) would precipitate with each other and the plant would not take them up. Splitting them into two A and B components solves this - you add both to the water gradually and the nutrients remain available.

Which stimulator should you use for roots and which for flowering?

For root system development, choose Katana Roots. For more abundant flowering, add Sumo Active Boost, and towards the end of flowering you can speed up ripening with Dragon Force.
