Product detailed description
Soil is a living system, and fertiliser behaves differently in it than in coco or in a reservoir. Shogun Samurai Terra Grow is a single-component mineral fertiliser for the growth stage, designed directly for soil conditions. It mixes on its own, without a second component - no A and B, one bottle.
Where Terra Grow belongs
Terra Grow is a base fertiliser for the vegetative growth of plants in soil: it contains all the essential elements for strong vegetative development and is made for all types of soil substrates including Terra Soil, All-Mix, Batmix and Light Mix. Alongside nitrogen salts, it also contains potassium dihydrogen phosphate, magnesium nitrate and potassium sulphate - so in addition to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, you also get magnesium and sulphur. In the flowering stage, Terra Grow is replaced by Samurai Terra Bloom. Both versions have a composition tuned to their stage, and there is a clear warning for them: never mix Grow and Bloom in one solution, always use only one of them.
Hard or soft water? The dose changes, not the product
Here the range is easily confused with the hydroponic one. Samurai Terra is a universal product for hard and soft water - you do not buy any special bottle for soft water. What differs is the dose: in soft water it is dosed more than in hard water, and it increases as growth progresses. The dilution of the entire Samurai Terra range is 1 to 4 ml per litre; the exact figures by week and water type are set out in the dosing table. The recommended pH of the solution is 5.5 to 6.5. Beware of confusion: only Samurai Hydro Grow A+B and Samurai Hydro Bloom A+B from the entire Shogun range have separate versions for soft and hard water.
Terra, Coco, or Hydro?
The Samurai range is divided by medium, because nutrients behave differently in each one. Terra is a single-component base for soil. Coco belongs with the two-component Samurai Coco A+B, and hydroponic systems use the Samurai Hydro range. Choose according to what you are growing in; the stage is then handled by choosing Grow versus Bloom within the range.
SmartZen
Samurai Terra contains the SmartZen biostimulant package. It improves nutrient uptake and distribution, and increases chlorophyll density and the speed of photosynthesis. Shogun also states that commercial tests showed fertilisers with SmartZen to have 6 to 8 % higher yield than fertiliser with the same formulation without SmartZen (the brand's website says 'up to 8 %'). The test methodology is not published, so this is the reason why Samurai is a higher class than a basic mineral base - not a guarantee of a specific figure.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a second component with Terra Grow?
No. Terra Grow is a single-component fertiliser - unlike the Coco and Hydro ranges, which are mixed as A+B.
I have hard water, do I need to buy a different bottle?
No. Terra Grow is one product for both waters, only the dose changes according to the table. Only the Samurai Hydro range has a version for soft and hard water from Shogun.
Can I use Terra Grow in coco?
Terra is intended for soil substrates. For coco, the Samurai range has its own two-component base Coco A+B, which also contains AquaZen for a more even distribution of the solution in the coconut fibre.
When should I switch from Grow to Bloom?
With the start of the flowering stage. According to our table, Terra Grow is no longer used in flowering and is replaced by Terra Bloom - never both in one solution.
You can find the exact dosing for individual ranges in the Shogun dosing table.
