The Milwaukee MC310 electronic measuring instrument continuously monitors the EC value in the nutrient solution. It immediately reports deviations. Professional wall-mounted EC monitor including mains adapter.

This instrument is very practical, has a large digital display and holes for screwing it to a base for safe use. Using the adjustable alarm, EC values in the range of 1 to 5 mS can be monitored precisely, both when the values are below the set limit and when they exceed it. The Milwaukee Milwaukee MC310 EC metre has manual calibration, which requires a calibration solution of 1.4 mS, 1413 µS. The package includes a probe, adapter, calibration screwdriver and 1413 µS 25 ml calibration solution.

Warning:
The probes of EC monitors need to be cleaned from time to time so that salt deposits do not form on them, and the instrument should be calibrated regularly.

Why it is important to monitor the EC of the solution when growing:

The current EC value best indicates whether the nutrient solution is ideally saturated for growing herbs. And therefore whether it is necessary to add water and thus lower the EC, or add fertilisers and thus increase the EC. Incorrect values representing overfeeding or underfeeding can endanger the health and development of plants. The EC of watering water can vary in mineral content (tap water, well water, stream water) and can also significantly affect the resulting EC of the solution.

This digital Milwaukee EC metre is not suitable for measuring the electrical conductivity of soil, but only liquids. Fertilisers and other factors can also affect the pH value of the nutrient solution. It also applies that the EC value fluctuates more in recirculation systems than in run-off systems. Carry out measurements only on perfectly mixed solutions so that the concentration is the same everywhere. Correct nutrient concentration is of course important in all stages of the growing cycle. When growing herbs, do not forget that each plant has a different ideal EC value and each fertiliser a different effect.

How to calibrate and care for Milwaukee EC monitors:

You can extend the service life and precision of the instrument by using quality buffers and storage solutions. Calibration is recommended approximately once a month. Use a sterile calibration solution for each calibration.

Protect measuring instruments from shocks, impacts and other damage. Types that are not waterproof should be protected from getting wet and from excessive humidity or dust. The instrument has a 2-year warranty, the probe a 6-month warranty.
