Prima Klima PK160EC-THC - quiet and efficient extract, diameter 160 mm and 1180 m3/h

Prima Klima PK160EC-THC is a duct radial fan with an efficient ebm-papst EC motor. It handles extraction through a carbon filter and longer ducting; the impeller with backward-curved blades and the aerodynamic body made of non-flammable polyamide (nylon) ensure quiet and durable operation. The control and connection system is integrated into the housing.

What an EC motor means

EC motor (electronically commutated, from the German manufacturer ebm-papst) is a type of motor - efficient, quiet and with smooth electronic speed control built directly into the motor. Unlike a classic AC motor, the speed is not reduced by a loss dimmer, so the fan draws only as much energy as it really needs for the given airflow - even at lower speeds. The result is lower consumption, less noise and a longer service life. EC refers to the motor, not the way it is connected to another device.

Built-in control according to temperature and humidity

The newer generation of -THC control monitors both temperature and air humidity and adjusts the speed so that the climate stays within the target range - an approach close to VPD-based control. The sensor and control unit are part of the fan, so you do not need any additional device. For cultivation, this is essential: humidity determines the risk of mould and the dew point just as much as temperature.

A carbon filter and bends reduce the real airflow, so choose the fan with a reserve above the needs of the space.

What size tent is the fan suitable for?

The maximum airflow of 1180 m3/h at a diameter of 160 mm covers a large 150x150 cm tent or a smaller growroom. Allow for a reserve: a carbon filter and duct bends reduce the actual airflow of the setup, so choose the fan with more than enough capacity for the tent rather than exactly at the limit.

What is the difference between the -TC and -THC versions?

The -TC suffix means built-in temperature control: the fan increases speed itself when the temperature rises above the set limit. The -THC version controls both temperature and air humidity at the same time, keeping the climate within the target range (close to the VPD principle). For cultivation, humidity is just as important as temperature, so -THC is the more advanced option.

Do I need an external controller for the fan?

No. The control is built directly into the fan body, controls the speed itself and works without any additional device. Only owners of ECblue series models, which do not have built-in control, buy an external controller separately.
