Product detailed description

Apogee’s top-of-the-range ePAR sensor was created in 2021 as an improvement to our ePFD sensor and was designed to measure the newly defined ePAR radiation range of 400–750 nm, which is photosynthetically active, beyond the traditional 400–700 nm range. The SQ-618-SS ePAR sensor sends a digital signal using the Modbus RTU protocol via RS-232 or RS-485. The sensor is equipped with a durable aluminium housing that is fully submersible and built to withstand harsh conditions, and a high-quality cable terminated with pre-tinned pigtail wires for easy connection to dataloggers and controllers.

The sensor cable includes an IP68-grade stainless steel connector for marine use, which makes it easy to remove and replace the sensor from permanent installations for maintenance and calibration. Typical applications for ePAR sensors include measuring the total ePAR intensity above the plant canopy in all growing environments, monitoring and adjusting grow lights, and research into plant morphogenic activity and photobiology. Many new-generation LED luminaires, the sun and other light sources emit these newly confirmed photosynthetically active UV and far-red wavelengths, but they have not yet been measurable by traditional 400-700 nm PAR metres.
