LED grow lights have been experiencing a significant boom in indoor gardening for some time, and thanks to their advantages they are popular with both experienced and beginner growers. They are one of the most modern types of lighting for grow tents and other indoor growing areas. Compared with classic discharge lamps , LED lights are simply a level higher, because they emit much less heat (even a smaller grow tent does not overheat), and therefore they can be placed much closer to the plants. Installation of these devices is usually quick and easy. Hang it – plug it in – light it up. LED technology in the case of more advanced models gives you the option to adjust the light spectrum and regulate the intensity of the radiation, depending on whether you need to shine on seedlings, vegetative growth, flowers or fruits.
Compared with standard discharge lamps, grow LED lights are somewhat more expensive. However, this is an investment that will pay for itself by the time you see your electricity bill. In the end, you will not only save money, but will probably also achieve better results. LED luminaires also last for several years without any problem. For example, the LED diodes from Lumatek are built for more than 60,000 hours of lighting. With the Viparspectra luminaire it is up to 100,000 hours. That is an impressive figure, about 20 times higher than HPS discharge lamps!
TIP: If you use LED lighting, we recommend adding a fertiliser to the irrigation water, which will supplement the common deficiency of calcium and magnesium.
