AutoPot 9Pot XL - self-watering system with SmartPot fabric pots

9Pot XL is a complete self-watering set for 9 plants. It combines a shared flood tray and Auto9 XL lid with nine SmartPot fabric pots with a volume of 19 l (5 gallons) and a Flexitank 100 l reservoir. The entire tray measures 105.5 x 114.5 cm and fits into a 120 x 120 cm grow tent.

How the system works

All nine pots stand in one shallow tray, which is operated by a single AQUAvalve valve. The valve fills the tray with a thin layer of nutrient solution and keeps it at the set level - using only gravity, without a pump, mains pressure, electricity or timers. When the plants use up the water and the tray empties, the valve fills it again. The plants therefore go through a natural wet-dry cycle, which supports healthy rooting. With the 100 l Flexitank, the set lasts for weeks without attention.

SmartPot fabric pots

The fabric walls of SmartPot pots aerate the root ball and perform air pruning: as soon as the root tip reaches the porous wall, the air stops it and the plant branches a dense fibrous root system instead of one long root. The roots breathe better and there is more oxygen in the root zone. SmartPots are reusable - after emptying, let them dry and shake or brush them clean.

6 mm distribution - older generation AQUAvalve

This SKU is, according to the package contents, in a 6 mm version, i.e. with the older generation AQUAvalve valve (blue / black-red). Newer AutoPot systems (from August 2020) run on AQUAvalve5 with 9 mm distribution - 6 and 9 mm cannot be connected directly, only via a 16 mm main line with a reducer. When buying additional parts, therefore choose from the 6 mm parts category; if you have a system with AQUAvalve5, choose 9 mm parts instead.

Dimensions and placement

The tray measures 105.5 x 114.5 cm - ideal for a 120 x 120 cm tent. Place the Flexitank reservoir at least 150 mm above the valve level so that the nutrient solution flows by gravity. Never let the tank dry out completely and top it up when it drops to 1/3 of its capacity.

Care and start-up

After planting, water the plants and let them root for 7-10 days, only then start the system. Dose fertilisers through the tank and monitor the level so that it does not fall below 1/3 of its capacity. Each time the tank is emptied, flush the tank, filter and distribution system.
