AutoPot AQUAbox Spyder - self-watering for wide beds and boxes

Do you have a wide raised bed or a standard box that should water itself? AutoPot AQUAbox Spyder is placed directly into the soil and a series of capillary wicks carries water from it into the substrate in all directions. It works without electricity, pumps or timers, using only gravity feed from a tank or barrel.

How AQUAbox works

The heart is the AQUAvalve5 valve inside the body. Capillary wicks lead from it and distribute water through 360 degrees into the soil. The roots instinctively turn towards the wicks and attach to them; once the plants have used the water, the valve releases another dose - always only as much as is needed, which ensures very efficient use of water.

Spyder, or Straight?

AQUAbox Spyder sends wicks in all directions and covers a wide open area of up to approximately 1.2 m2 (around 13 sq/ft). For narrow and long beds or rows, the AQUAbox Straight version with a single straight strip of matting up to 1.2 m is more suitable.

Installation

Insert the body directly into the soil and spread the wicks across the area. The circular spirit level in the lid helps you fit the AQUAbox level. Fit a 9 mm grommet (top hat grommet) into the tank or barrel with the nutrient solution and connect the system to it with 9 mm tubing.

Upgrade an older AQUAbox to AQUAvalve5

The AQUAbox Spyder now supplied already includes AQUAvalve5 and 9 mm distribution. If you have an older unit still on the 6 mm generation and want to convert it to AQUAvalve5, it is necessary to drill the existing holes out to 12.5 mm.

Maintenance and spare parts

It is recommended to replace the capillary wicks every growing season. Replacement 6 m matting for Spyder is available separately. Other compatible 9 mm generation parts and the AQUAvalve5 valve can be found in the AutoPot range.
