AutoPot AQUAbox Straight - self-watering for narrow beds and planters

Would you like a narrow raised bed, a large planter or a growing bag to water itself? AutoPot AQUAbox Straight is a self-watering system for linear sections - a capillary mat buried in the substrate distributes water along a row of plants. It works without electricity, pumps or timers, using only gravity feed from a tank or barrel.

How AQUAbox works

At the heart is the AQUAvalve5 valve inside the AQUAbox body. This feeds the capillary mat, towards which the roots instinctively turn and attach themselves. The mat is positioned at a slight incline away from the body so that the water flows evenly. As soon as the plants use up the water, the valve releases another dose - always only as much as is needed.

Straight or Spyder?

AQUAbox Straight distributes water in one straight strip of mat, and is therefore suitable for narrow and long beds, planters and rows up to approximately 1.2 m in length. If you need to cover a wide open area in all directions, choose the AQUAbox Spyder version, which emits capillary wicks through 360 degrees.

Installation

Place the AQUAbox directly into the substrate in the centre of the planter and spread the mat evenly to both sides, or place the body at the edge and stretch the mat across the entire bed. The circular spirit level in the lid helps you set the body horizontally. Then connect the AQUAbox with a 9 mm hose (2 m is included) to a tank or barrel with irrigation water - the 9 mm grommet and click-fit 16-9 mm adapter with filter are included.

Upgrading an older AQUAbox to AQUAvalve5

The newly supplied AQUAbox Straight already includes the AQUAvalve5 and 9 mm distribution, so you do not need to modify anything. However, if you have an older unit still on the 6 mm generation and want to convert it to AQUAvalve5, you need to drill the existing holes out to 12.5 mm.

Maintenance and spare parts

The capillary mat is recommended to be replaced every growing season. A replacement straight mat 1200 x 45 mm can be bought separately; for a narrow bed, it is enough to cut it in half. Compatible 9 mm parts and the rest of the range can be found in the AutoPot category.
