Aqua Master Tools EC metre E300 PRO 2.0 (EC, temperature) for substrate
Code: N51247Related products
Product detailed description
Aqua Master Tools E300 PRO 2.0 shows you the strength of the solution where a regular EC pen cannot help - directly in moist substrate. The electrode with a PIN connector is on a 120 cm cable, so you can reach into a pot, bag or larger tank without dragging the whole device behind it.
What the E300 PRO 2.0 measures
- EC in the range 0.00 to 19.99 mS/cm,
- temperature in the range 0 °C to 50 °C with an accuracy of ±0.5 °C,
- EC resolution optionally 0.01 or 0.1 mS/cm.
Automatic temperature compensation balances the effect of temperature, so morning and afternoon measurements are comparable. The device has IP65 protection and the electrode IP67, so you do not need to worry about rinsing it or wet hands. After eight minutes of inactivity it switches off automatically and saves batteries; their status is monitored by an indicator on the display.
Manual calibration with any EC solution
Here is the main difference compared with the older E300 PRO version: the 2.0 is calibrated manually and accepts any EC calibration solution, while the older E300 PRO has single-point automatic calibration fixed at 1.4 EC. In practice, this means you are not tied to a single standard and can use the one you have at home or the one that better matches the strength of your solutions. The calibration itself takes a minute: switch the metre on, use the MODE button to change the display to EC, rinse the electrode with distilled water, dry it and immerse it in the calibration solution. Then hold the CAL button for about five seconds until the CAL symbol starts flashing at the top of the display, use the up and down arrows to set the value your solution has, and confirm it with the On/Off button - the device returns to normal mode and you are done. Finally, rinse the electrode with clean water. The device will remind you to calibrate itself after 30 days; a common choice is EC 1.413 calibration solution. Always calibrate from a fresh, unopened package and do not pour used solution back into the bottle.
How to use it
Before measuring, rinse the electrode with clean water and gently dry it. Then insert it into soft and sufficiently moist substrate or immerse it in liquid - in dry substrate, measurement makes no sense. Wait until the value stabilises. Use the HOLD button to keep the reading on the display before writing it down, and press it again to release it. After use, always rinse the electrode so fertiliser residues do not dry on it. When it reaches the end of its service life, you simply replace the electrode itself and the device will continue to serve you - we stock the replacement electrode for the 2.0 under code N52212. Electrodes are not interchangeable between ranges; the probe from the older E300 PRO without the 2.0 designation does not belong on this metre.

When to choose the E300 PRO 2.0
Choose it when you want to know how much salt is really left for the plant in the root zone - that is information you cannot read from the EC of the poured irrigation water. Compared with the older E300 PRO version, you get free rein in calibration and AAA pencil batteries instead of button cells. If you only measure a mixed solution in a tank or bucket, a cheaper EC pen will be enough. And if, besides the strength of the solution, you are also interested in pH in the substrate, the S300 PRO 3.0 is designed for that.
Frequently asked questions
Can the E300 PRO 2.0 also be used in nutrient solution?
Yes. The electrode is designed for moist substrates as well as liquids, so with the same device you can check the EC of mixed irrigation water in the tank and the EC in the pot. After each measurement, rinse it with clean water; IP67 protection means rinsing will not harm it. Calibration is the same in both cases, namely manual with any EC solution.
What EC should I keep in the substrate?
There is no single universal number - EC rises from germination to flowering and differs according to the medium and fertiliser brand. Follow the values in the feeding chart for your nutrient line and treat EC in the substrate as a check on whether salts are accumulating. A steadily rising EC in the root zone is a sign that you should flush with clean water.
