DimLux Plant temperature camera for LED fixtures measures leaf temperature at canopy level using infrared sensing and sends data to the Maxi Controller for VPD calculation and automatic lighting control.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

DimLux Plant temperature camera is an accessory for the Maxi Controller that accurately measures plant temperature at canopy level using infrared sensing. The measured values are transmitted to the Maxi Controller, which combines them with air temperature and humidity to calculate and display the VPD value (Vapor Pressure Deficit – vapour pressure deficit). The camera is available with a 5 m or 10 m cable; this version is equipped with a 5 m cable.

Key features

  • Measurement method: infrared sensing of leaf surface temperature at plant canopy level
  • Data output: PT values (actual plant temperature) and AT values (difference between plant and ambient temperature) displayed on the Maxi Controller
  • VPD calculation: in combination with an RH sensor and temperature sensor, enables VPD calculation and display
  • Automatic response: if the plant temperature is too high, the Maxi Controller automatically dims the lighting; in the event of insufficient water, it dims or switches off the lighting
  • Indicator LEDs (for LED fixtures): red LEDs during overheating, blue LEDs during undercooling
  • Cable length: 5 m (a 10 m version is also available)
  • Installation: direct connection to the Maxi Controller, easy installation

Specifications

  • Cable length: 5 m
  • Compatibility: DimLux Maxi Controller EVO

Frequently asked questions

Why measure plant temperature rather than just air temperature?
A healthy plant should always be cooler than the surrounding air – water and nutrients are constantly flowing through the plant, cooling it. If the plant temperature reaches the air temperature, the plant begins to wilt. The camera detects this situation before the damage becomes visible.
Is the camera necessary to display VPD?
Three sensors are required to calculate VPD: a plant temperature camera, an RH sensor and an air temperature sensor. Without the camera, VPD cannot be calculated accurately.
