Terra Aquatica (General Hydroponics) - Dosing charts

How should Terra Aqutica fertilisers be dosed? Here is a proven method!

You previously knew the popular products of this manufacturer under different names and the General Hydroponics brand. To help you navigate the newly renamed T.A. range more easily, you can first read in a separate article what has changed into what.

  • Dosage depends on the fertiliser range you have chosen according to the growing method and substrate.
  • We recommend combining Terra Aquatica fertilisers with these substrates.
  • Dose T.A. fertilisers on the basis of the Feeding Plan, taking into account the developmental stage the plant is in.
  • The values given in the table represent the amount of product in millilitres per one litre of water.
  • Measure the EC value with a metre always after adjusting the pH of the water (between 5.5 – 6.5) and then again after adding the base nutrients and supplements.
  • Do not forget that in the last week of the growing cycle it is important to carry out the so-called flush, or flushing. At this stage, do not add any of the standard fertilisers to the water. This will achieve exceptionally healthy fruits with excellent flavour, as no residues of salts or other undesirable substances will remain in the crop. Whether you are growing in a substrate or cultivating plants in hydroponic systems, obtain FlashClean for the flushing phase. This product dissolves residual salts and acts as an effective prevention against their build-up. Use it for 2 days for flushing at the end of the growing cycle. Then you may flush the plants for another 2 days with clean water only.
  • During ripening, just before harvest, apply FinalPart, which will achieve not only higher yields, but also more varied flavours of the fruits.
  • Dosing the fertiliser according to the table and the manufacturer’s instructions minimises the risk of over-fertilisation. Nevertheless, we recommend continuously checking how the plants are doing during the growing cycle, as each of them has its own individual needs.
  • For better watering and improved nutrient management, it is worth using filters and reverse osmosis units Growmax. All T.A. products are compatible with reverse osmosis (RO) water. In the case of TriPart and DualPart fertilisers, choose the versions for so-called soft water, and in the case of Pro Organic organic fertilisers, also use T.A. Magnesium Supplement as an additive. The Silicate product helps stabilise the pH of water treated by reverse osmosis or very soft water.

When to add and when to reduce?

  • You can reduce the intensity of fertilisation for a while if you notice typical symptoms associated with excess nutrients. These are most often indicated by yellowing leaves, spots on their edges, or a white surface on the substrate.
  • If you notice that the plant, on the contrary, has a nutrient deficiency, it is advisable to start fertilising a little more. If the plant is growing unhealthy slowly and its leaves are smaller than is usual for the species, it is likely to be undernourished. In such a case, you can try increasing the intensity of fertilisation and monitor whether this has a positive effect on the plant and whether it begins to thrive better.
  • The EC of tap water varies, as do other influences on the electrical conductivity of the solution, which must be adapted to the needs of your plants. Therefore, start with the values from the tables, but then do not be afraid to adjust the dosage slightly.

T.A. - foliar application

  • The spray is most often applied to the leaves, however the nutrient solution may also be sprayed directly onto the roots (aeroponic systems), which is why they are listed in a separate column.
  • The EC level of products intended for spraying should not exceed 0.6 mS.
  • As you can see in the table, the T.A. products that can be applied by spraying are divided into three categories: specific boosters, metabolism boosters and protection.
  • For dosing these products, practically only the growth and onset of flowering stages are important. Do not use the spray during the flowering period! The honourable exception is the pulverised silicate Silicate, indispensable when growing in open soil and commonly used separately during the first two weeks of the flowering stage. This additive fertiliser is compatible with all products in the T.A. range. However, if you use beneficial microorganisms TrikoLogic or TrikoLogic S, then apply this silicate only as a spray on the flowers, or by the dry method to a selected spot on the stem above the ground, so as not to slow the spread of beneficial microorganisms in the growing medium.

T.A. - HYDROPONICS (HYDRO) + COCO (COCO)

  • The manufacturer distinguishes the dosing of its products across seven stages, which represent the individual columns in the table.
  • For these columns, recommended values of electrical conductivity of the solution (EC) are also placed under the basic mineral nutrients (and above the basic organic nutrients).
  • Flushing, or flushing, is carried out during the growing cycle not only in the usual way at the end, but also continuously, four times in total. FlashClean is therefore certainly worth obtaining for nutrition.
  • During the ripening period, which lasts 10 – 15 days, only FinalPart is used from the category of basic mineral nutrients for coco and hydroponics. The other products are dosed during the periods of first roots, first true leaves, growth, onset of flowering and flowering. From the other categories, organic fertilisers for flowering or flowering stimulators are also used during the ripening period.
  • The word “Or” in the table indicates where it is sufficient to choose one of the products for the given purpose. For example, there is no point in using two root stimulators. Therefore, you will dose either Root Booster, or Pro Roots. This applies in the case of root and flowering stimulators or products for plant protection or nutrient absorption and assimilation. It is therefore an indication of the same purpose; the dosing of these products differs.
