Product detailed description

Every cycle leaves dead matter in the root zone and the nutrients locked in it that you have already paid for. Shogun Zenzym is an enzymatic product for root zone hygiene: by rapidly breaking down microscopic dead root matter, it keeps it clean and releases the locked nutrients back to the plant. This stimulates further root growth and increases nutrient uptake. You can use it in soil, coco and hydroponics.

What is in the bottle

Zenzym is a multi-component enzyme complex. The safety data sheet quantifies cellulase (1 to 3 %) and glucanase (endo-1.3(4)-beta, up to 0.25 %); the product page also lists xylanase. The pH of the concentrate itself is 4.8, density 1.01 g/cm3. Zenzym contains no macronutrients - it is not a fertiliser, but an additive that works with what remains in the substrate. You therefore continue to handle the basic nutrition with your own range, typically Samurai Coco A+B in coco.

Dosing: 2.5 ml per litre and it does not change

Dilution with Zenzym is pleasantly boring - 2.5 ml per litre of nutrient solution during both the vegetative phase and flowering, right up to the final flush. No week-by-week curve, no recalculations. In our dosing table you will find Zenzym broken down in the coco programme: it is started with the first week of vegetative growth and kept at the same dose until the eighth week of flowering. In the final week before harvest, you flush with clean water and Zenzym no longer belongs there.

Second life for used substrate

Zenzym can also do something that ordinary watering does not address: revive substrate that you would otherwise throw away. Before reusing the medium, soak it for 24 hours in a solution with up to ten times the concentration. Zenzym revives worn-out substrate by rapidly breaking down dead root matter; in Shogun's catalogue it is listed in the starter additives section precisely as a product for recycling growing substrates.

Stability in the tank: 14 days

Anyone mixing into a reservoir will especially appreciate this: Zenzym remains stable for up to 14 days, even in oxygenated systems. You therefore do not need to prepare the mixed solution again for every watering.

Frequently asked questions

How much Zenzym should be dosed?

The dose is 2.5 ml per litre of nutrient solution and remains the same throughout vegetative growth and flowering. It does not change according to the week or water hardness. Use it right up to the final flush; in the last week before harvest, only clean water is used, so you stop using Zenzym there.

Is Zenzym a fertiliser?

No. Zenzym is an enzyme complex without macronutrients, so it does not replace basic nutrition. It is added to it as an additive: it clears away dead root matter and releases nutrients from it back to the plant. You choose the base fertiliser according to the medium - for coco, soil and hydroponics, Shogun has its own Samurai range.

Does Zenzym work in hydroponics?

Yes. Zenzym is compatible with soil, coco and hydroponics and remains stable in the tank for up to 14 days, even in oxygenated systems. However, please note our dosing table: it only breaks down Zenzym in the coco programme; you will not find it in the hydroponics and soil tables.

How do you use Zenzym to restore old substrate?

Before reusing the medium, soak it for 24 hours in a Zenzym solution with up to ten times the concentration compared with normal watering. Zenzym will meanwhile break down the remains of dead roots. Only then replant the substrate. Do not use the tenfold concentration in normal watering.

Exact dosing for individual ranges can be found in the Shogun dosing table.
