Product detailed description

Garland pH Soil Test – soil pH test (2 pcs)

Garland pH Soil Test is a simple chemical test designed for the approximate measurement of soil acidity and alkalinity across a pH range of 5.0–8.0. It makes it easy to determine the pH value of soil without using electronic measuring instruments. The pack contains two disposable test tubes with chemical reagent, ready for immediate use.

The correct soil pH is one of the important factors affecting the healthy growth and development of plants. An overly acidic or alkaline environment can limit the availability of certain nutrients, even when they are present in sufficient quantities in the growing media. Regular pH monitoring therefore helps prevent plant nutrition problems and allows growing conditions to be adjusted in good time.

Main benefits of Garland pH Soil Test

  • pH measurement range 5.0–8.0 – allows the approximate acidity or alkalinity of soil to be determined.
  • 2 disposable tests in the pack – suitable for checking two different soil samples or for repeated measurement.
  • Easy to use – requires no previous experience with pH measurement.
  • No calibration required – unlike electronic pH metres, the device does not need to be calibrated regularly.
  • Easy evaluation – the resulting pH value is determined by comparing the colour of the liquid with the colour scale on the packaging.
  • Wide range of uses – suitable for checking garden soil, soil in pots and standard soil-based growing media.

How does Garland pH Soil Test work?

The test uses a chemical reagent which, after being mixed with a soil sample and water, allows the approximate pH value to be determined based on a colour reaction. The resulting colour of the liquid is then compared with the included colour scale.

The whole process is very simple and requires no additional measuring equipment. For the most reliable results, we recommend using distilled water and a soil sample at room temperature.

Soil pH measurement procedure

  • Take a soil sample from a depth of approximately 10 cm and remove larger impurities and stones.
  • Carefully open the test tube to prevent the chemical reagent from spilling out.
  • Pour the collected soil sample into the test tube up to the first marked line.
  • Add water, ideally distilled, up to the fourth marked line.
  • Close the test tube and shake thoroughly to mix its contents.
  • Allow the soil particles to settle at the bottom of the test tube.
  • Compare the resulting colour of the liquid with the colour scale on the packaging and determine the approximate pH value.
