We recommend buying and using a metal attenuator in pairs straight away so that both the intake side and the outlet side of the fan are dampened. They are fitted directly onto the fan. From our range, you can easily choose mainly based on the flange diameter.
Metal attenuators are compatible with most fans.
A silenced fan also helps reduce noise - even the best attenuator will not reduce the noise produced by the fan motor. We recommend RUCK ISO-MAX or TD Silent fans with internal insulation. Boxed fans are also an option, for example Torin MDF Box with an insulating layer and huge capacity. A modern solution is PrimaKlima Whisperblower fans with a special design.
Also worth mentioning are silenced ventilation ducts such as Sonoflex with glass wool or PhonicTrap designed for demanding customers or professional growers.
How do you choose a metal attenuator?
The flange diameter is essential. The range includes sizes from 100 mm up to 400 mm, and the attenuator must match the diameter of your fan and ducting. With the LTKlima range, you can also connect multiple attenuators in series to increase attenuation even further.
Why choose a metal attenuator instead of a plastic one?
The metal casing is mechanically more durable and will last for years of operation even in more demanding environments. It is heavier, but that robustness is exactly why professional growers choose it. If you are mainly concerned about the weight of the setup, consider the plastic variant.
How many decibels does a metal attenuator reduce?
The attenuator most effectively suppresses the noise of air flowing through the ducting. The actual attenuation depends on the size, the number of attenuators and the fan output - the greatest effect comes from a pair of attenuators on the intake and exhaust. However, it will not eliminate the noise of the motor itself.
