New for 2022, the DLI-600 from Apogee Instruments is an elegant, easy-to-use device for spot checking photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) outside the traditional 400-700 nm range.
The DLI-600 measures the newly defined ePAR radiation range of 400-750 nm, which has been shown to have extended photosynthetically active properties. In addition to measuring ePAR, the DLI-600 metre also calculates daily light integral (DLI) and photoperiod.
DLI refers to the total amount of PAR or ePAR falling on a plane over 24 hours, expressed in units of moles per square metre per day (mol m-2 d-1). Photoperiod is the total time during which PAR or ePAR falls on a plane over 24 hours, and is expressed in units of hours (h). ePAR, DLI and photoperiod affect plant growth and development and are often measured in greenhouses and growth chambers to help with lighting control and decision-making.
