Inert Grodan rockwool growing mats are made from the highest-quality basalt fibres, which are subsequently pressed into the shape of mats. 

The metre-long Grodan Expert(Prestige) growing mats are defined by vertical hydrophilic fibres made of mineral wool, forming a single layer. We recommend them for cultivating herbs and agricultural crops (tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.). 

We recommend this reliable inert substrate without holes, in the form of a one-metre-long mat for growing all kinds of plants, quite simply for a larger harvest of TOP quality, but also for the following reasons: 

• It enables maximum control over the fertilisation process and uniform development of plants. 
• It has excellent absorption properties and increases oxygen uptake by the plant.  
• It ensures a stable pH (which rockwool also slightly increases), as well as the required electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution (EC) values. 
• It supports root penetration – energetic and lasting growth of healthy root mass, which is the basis for proper nutrient absorption, resulting in strong and healthy mature plants. 
• It enables simple irrigation and minimal drainage, while the drainage water, once disinfected, can also be reused. However, we recommend the mat for only one growing cycle. 
• This growing mat does not need to be soaked before use. 

Mats with NG2.0 technology do not affect EC values. In practice, the Grodan Prestige (Expert) growing mat can be used either on its own or as a base for propagation cubes. You can use the rockwool mat in various hydroponic systems or, due to its dimensions, also in metre-long planter boxes.
