Choose individual components for irrigation systems. You will find accessories suitable for DRIP growing systems: irrigation needles designed for connection to capillary tubing, durable pressure valves or even connectors for distribution hose.
How to assemble a drip irrigation system
The basis is a distribution PE hose (most often 16 mm in diameter), into which connectors are inserted and from which water is led to each plant via a small 5 mm capillary tube. At the end of the capillary sits an irrigation needle or dripper, which doses the exact amount of water. For even watering over a longer route, choose pressure-compensated parts - Netafim PCJ drippers and DCS pressure valves maintain the same flow regardless of pressure in the system.
How to choose the parts
- Flow rate - drippers and valves differ in output, typically 1.2 to 8 litres per hour; smaller plants need less, larger ones more.
- Capillary diameter - the most common is 5 mm, and for finer distribution there is also 2.8 mm micro-capillary tubing; choose matching needles and connectors for it.
- Pressure compensation - for longer runs and multiple outlets, it ensures that the last plant receives the same amount of water as the first.

Frequently asked questions
What is a pressure-compensated dripper and when do I need one?
A pressure-compensated dripper maintains the set flow rate even when pressure in the system fluctuates. It is worthwhile for longer runs and systems with many outlets, where plants closer to the pump would otherwise receive more water than those further away.
What flow rate should I choose for a dripper or needle?
For smaller plants and cuttings, a dripper with a flow rate of around 1 to 2 litres per hour is enough; for larger flowering plants, allow 4 or more litres per hour. Always fine-tune the exact dose according to the size of the plant and the substrate.
Which capillary tubing can I connect the parts to?
Most needles, valves and connectors are designed for standard 5 mm capillary tubing, which connects to the distribution PE hose. For finer distribution, there are parts for 2.8 mm micro-capillary tubing - make sure the connectors and needles match the chosen diameter.
