History and focus of the brand

Gavita was behind many technological advances that are now market standards.
Since 2010, the whole company has focused strongly on retail so that it can be useful not only for large contracts, but also for individual growers from all over the world who grow their herbs, fruit or vegetables at home in a growbox. Products developed for this purpose were immediately embraced by professional and hobby growers on a global scale and became the gold standard, as they have since been copied by many manufacturers of indoor plant lighting, yet never surpassed.
However, despite its market position, the Dutch company never rests on its laurels. Its philosophy is based on fully independent operation and development. That is why it also has a top-equipped research and development department with an ultra-modern laboratory for developing new products and improving existing ones. One example of this independence is the photogoniometer - a device used to measure the distribution and efficiency of a reflector. There are not many lighting suppliers on the market that own one. Another example is the specialised EMI laboratory, where Gavita luminaires are strictly tested against electromagnetic interference (EMI). To measure the total light output of a lamp, Gavita experts also use a device called an Ulbricht sphere, which is calibrated by the renowned Philips light laboratories, the largest in Europe.
Lighting from Gavita is used in professional growing facilities all over the world, from the Netherlands through Russia and Norway to Canada.
The company is active on all five continents, with projects ranging from individual luminaires to huge greenhouses with more than 100,000 luminaires, serving the retail, research and professional horticultural markets.
Gavita works closely with academic and practical research, such as Wageningen University & Research, Plant Dynamics and Proefstation voor de Groenteteelt (Vegetable Growing Test Station).
