Intake Grilles
An intake grille is fitted to the end of ducting or directly to a fan and prevents insects, mould spores and coarse dust from entering the grow space. The Bug Barrier range covers diameters from 100 to 315 mm, while Dust Defender adds a finer protective mesh directly to the fan or ducting.

You need an intake grille wherever ducting draws air from outside or from another room - without protection, insects, dust or fluff can easily get inside and then clog the filter and fan.
How to choose
The basic criterion is the duct diameter - Bug Barrier from RAM is sold in sizes 100, 125, 200, 250 and 315 mm, so it can be connected to most common ducting and fans. For finer protection against dust and small spores, Dust Defender from Pure Factory is used, which is fitted directly to the fan or the end of the hose.
