AutoPot 1Pot BOX for 4 plants - complete self-watering set

Do you want to start with self-watering and have everything ready in one package? AutoPot 1Pot BOX is a complete set for four plants with four 15 l pots and a 47 l tank. The whole system works purely on the principle of gravity - it does not need electricity, pumps or timers, so it is a reliable and maintenance-free helper for growing tomatoes, peppers, herbs, strawberries and ornamental plants.

How the watering works

The heart of the system is the patented float valve AQUAvalve5. After filling the 47 l tank, water flows by gravity through 9 mm tubing into the trays under the pots. The valve fills the tray with water to a height of approximately 20 mm and then closes; it opens again only when the plants have used up all the water. This creates a natural wet and dry cycle, which aerates the roots, supports their healthy development and prevents overwatering. The new AQUAvalve5 version has a 66% larger inlet opening, which reduces the risk of clogging.

Recommended substrates

For correct operation, use an airy and well-draining substrate - permeability is key for alternating the wet and dry cycle. Mixtures in a 50% / 50% ratio have proven effective:

• Soil and perlite - 50/50
• Coco and perlite - 50/50
• Soil and expanded clay - 50/50
• Coco and expanded clay - 50/50
• Rockwool and expanded clay - 50/50

In addition, place a drainage layer about 2.5 cm high of expanded clay or perlite at the bottom of each pot.

Tank setup and start-up

Place the 47 l tank at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve5 valve - the gradient will ensure distribution of the watering. If the level drops to around 1/3, top it up and never let the tank dry out completely. After planting, water the plants and let them root for 7-10 days; only then start the system. One 47 l tank comfortably supplies up to 6 pots; for larger setups, choose a larger tank from the Flexitank range.

Mineral, not organic fertilisers for the 1Pot base

For the 1Pot system, the manufacturer recommends mineral fertilisers - operation is simplest and maintenance-free with them. Organic fertilisers are not recommended for the 1Pot base, because they settle and can clog the narrow 9 mm distribution line (larger 1Pot XL and XXL systems with a water pump in the tank can handle organics).

Care for the AQUAvalve5 valve

Keep the valve and tray clean and free of obstructions. At the end of the season, wash the valve in warm soapy water (an old toothbrush helps). Remove limescale from the nozzle with a paper clip or blow it through; never clean it with a drill - you would destroy the valve.

Frequently asked questions

Which substrate is suitable for 1Pot?

Always a freely draining 50/50 mix - soil/perlite, soil/expanded clay, coco/perlite, coco/expanded clay or Rockwool/expanded clay. Permeability is key for alternating the wet and dry cycle.

Can I use organic fertilisers in 1Pot?

We do not recommend them for the 1Pot base - organic matter settles in the narrow 9 mm line and clogs it. Choose mineral fertilisers; with them, operation is maintenance-free.
