Aqua Master Tools KCl 3 mol/l storage solution is intended for pH electrodes that are to be stored in storage liquid between measurements. It helps keep the glass membrane and reference electrolyte in good condition, so the probe does not dry out unnecessarily.

When to use KCl

Use the solution for both regular and longer-term storage of pH probes for which storage in liquid is suitable. For Aqua Master Tools pH pens with a dry electrode, follow the specific instructions for the given model.

How to store the probe in KCl

Pour a little storage solution into the protective cap of the electrode and place the probe in it. That is exactly what KCl is intended for: as a bath between measurements in which the glass membrane and reference electrolyte remain in good condition. The glass pH electrode should not be kept dry or in distilled water - that is why it is stored in KCl, not in a cup of water.

Before storage and before the next measurement, rinse the electrode thoroughly with clean water so that you do not carry fertiliser residues into the cap. Close the bottle immediately after pouring and keep it stored at 15 to 25 °C. Do not pour back into the bottle any solution in which the probe has already stood - pour it away and use fresh solution next time.
