Detailed information

Product detailed description

The combined professional Milwaukee MW804 metre can measure 4 values at once: acidity/alkalinity, saturation, electrical conductivity and the temperature of the nutrient solution.

The extra smart, pocket-sized, digital Milwaukee MW804 pH, EC, TDS metre and thermometer is an excellent choice especially for demanding professional or commercial growers and farmers. This reliable digital measuring instrument enables quick, very accurate and simple checking of water or nutrient solution. Its small dimensions of 20x3.8 cm are also an advantage.

A thermometer, pH metre, EC metre and TDS metre in one device!

The main advantages of this pocket pH/EC/TDS metre and thermometer are precisely combined measurement of four values, a two-line display and a replaceable probe. If the probe breaks, it is enough to replace it; there is no need to buy a new device.

The package includes the combined MW804 metre, batteries and instructions.

How a digital combined EC metre helps:

- the current EC value best indicates whether the nutrient solution for growing herbs is ideally saturated.
- you can find out whether water needs to be added to lower the EC or fertilisers need to be added to raise the EC.
- incorrect values indicating overfeeding or underfeeding can endanger the health and development of plants
- the EC of watering water may vary according to mineral content (tap water, well water, stream water) and can also significantly affect the final EC of the solution.

This digital Milwaukee EC metre is not suitable for measuring the electrical conductivity of soil, only liquids. Fertilisers and other factors can also affect the pH value of the nutrient solution. It also applies that the EC value fluctuates more in recirculation systems than in run-off systems. Carry out measurements only with perfectly mixed solutions so that the concentration is the same everywhere. Correct nutrient concentration is, of course, important in all stages of the growing cycle.

When growing herbs, remember that each plant has a different ideal EC value and each fertiliser has a different effect.

Why a pH metre is used in cultivation:

  • a stable pH value is essential for ideal nutrient availability and proper plant growth
  • each plant requires a different optimal pH value
  • the pH of the irrigation water or soil is also affected by the condition and stage of the plant, water quality or the composition of the nutrition
  • in recirculation systems, pH changes more significantly than in run-off systems, because dead rootlets affect the pH value (during growth the secretions are alkaline, during flowering acidic)
  • in the growth stage the pH value usually rises, in the flowering stage it falls
  • acidity/alkalinity is affected by the presence of trace elements and micronutrients, which can degrade internal processes in the plant
  • acidic or alkaline pH plus and pH minus preparations are used to regulate and stabilise the pH of the irrigation water
  • before checking the pH of the solution, mix it thoroughly; only then will the measurement be correct

How to calibrate and care for Milwaukee pH metres:

In the enclosed instructions, see how to calibrate the Milwaukee pH metre correctly. You can extend the life of the device and the accuracy of the measurement by using quality buffers and storage solutions. Calibration is recommended approximately once a month. Use a sterile calibration solution for each calibration.

Protect measuring instruments from shocks, impacts and other damage. Types that are not waterproof should be protected from getting wet and from excessive humidity or dust. The warranty on the electrode is valid for 6 months from the date of sale! For other parts, 24 months from the date of sale.
