Hoses
Water distribution depends on the right hose - one type is suitable from the pump to the hydroponic system, another for greenhouse drip irrigation. Choose according to diameter (12.5 to 25 mm), pressure resistance and whether the hose should prevent the solution from overheating or algae growth.

Quality hoses and tubing for efficient water or nutrient solution distribution!
You can buy irrigation hoses that can also work under high pressure. For smooth water flow from the pump to the hydroponic system, well-designed yellow hoses are ideal, as they are durable and extra flexible, as well as, for example, white flexi hoses.
Cheap distribution PE hoses made of strong but almost rigid plastic are designed for a maximum pressure of 16 atm and are shaped using connectors.
An important parameter when choosing hoses is of course their diameter, which must also match the relevant components.
Our TIP: a small but invaluable gadget for everyday gardening is Aquaking waterproof PTFE tape.
Frequently asked questions
What hose diameter should I choose?
Follow the components you already have. Thin capillaries and 12.5 mm tubing serve as the end distribution to individual plants, medium diameters of 16 and 19 mm carry water within the system, and 20 to 25 mm is suitable for the main supply from the pump or into the greenhouse. The hose diameter must fit the relevant connectors and reducers, otherwise the joint will not seal.
What is the white layer on the hose for?
The white outer wall reflects light and heat, so the nutrient solution does not overheat as much on hot days. The black inner layer also does not let light through and thus prevents algae growth. Models such as Icetube or Netafim use this double-layer construction precisely for that reason.
What is the difference between PE and flexi hose?
A distribution PE hose is rigid, almost inflexible and can withstand pressure of up to 16 atm - it carries water in straight runs and all bends are solved with connectors. A flexi hose, by contrast, is soft and flexible, so you can route it even where a rigid pipe would not fit; it is suitable for short and complex runs.
How do I seal the joints so they do not leak?
Wrap the thread of the joint with waterproof PTFE tape and push the hose onto the connector as far as it will go. For pressure systems, it is worth checking the joints after the first filling and tightening them if necessary.
