Advanced Hydroponics - Dosing Tables

How should Advanced Hydroponics fertilisers be dosed? Here is a proven method!

The basic fertiliser Advanced Hydroponics has three components - Grow, Bloom and Micro, which together are known as the DUTCH FORMULA. During most of the growing cycle, you will need three nutrient bottles, with the ratios between them changing. In our written description and the table below, you will find the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. The brilliance of three-component fertilisers, however, lies in the fact that you can adjust the nutrient dose yourself exactly as your specific plants require.

If you are just starting out with growing, want to test AH fertilisers, or are growing a new genetic line with which you have no experience, we recommend following the table. If, however, you are already confident, you may begin to experiment slightly with dosing and create exactly the dosage that suits your plants.

Basic information:

  • The fertilisers are best suited to hydroponics, but you can use them for any growing method and type of substrate.
  • In all cases, the recommended pH value is within the range of 5.8 – 6.2.
  • When growing in coco, you can use the same brand’s coco bricks.
  • Use Advanced Hydroponics fertilisers with regard to the developmental stage the plant is in.
  • The fertiliser doses stated in millilitres are intended for mixing in 1 litre of water.
  • The asterisk next to the trio of components of Advanced Hydroponics basic nutrition means that for soil only half the dose shown in the table applies - see the detailed breakdown below.
  • The manufacturer’s table distinguishes a total of 4 phases of the growing cycle, namely:
    • Growth phase = growth, weeks 1 to 3
    • Flowering phase = flowering and fruit formation, weeks 4 to 6
    • Final phase = between weeks 7 and 11 of the flowering phase, fruit formation peaks, flowers grow to their maximum size and fruits ripen. (It also applies that from week 10 onwards, the time until harvest varies depending on the specific plant species.)
    • End of flowering = weeks 12 to 13
  • Do not forget that in the final week of the growing cycle it is important to carry out the so-called flush or flushing. In this phase, do not add any of the standard fertilisers to the water. This will result in exceptionally healthy fruits with excellent flavour, and no residues of salts or other undesirable substances will remain in the crop.
  • For indoor plant cultivation in a grow box, the table also includes a column with the recommended photoperiod. During the vegetative phase, give the plants 18 hours of light per day. From week 4 until harvest, the ideal lighting period is reduced to 12 hours per day.
  • Dosing fertiliser according to the table and the manufacturer’s instructions minimises the risk of over-fertilisation. Nevertheless, we recommend continuously checking how the plants are doing throughout the growing cycle, as each has its own individual needs.
  • Our TIP: For better watering and improved nutrient management, it is worth using filters and reverse osmosis units Growmax.

When to add and when to reduce?

  • You can reduce the intensity of fertilisation for a while if you notice typical symptoms associated with an excess of nutrients. These are most often indicated by yellowing leaves, spots on their edges, or a white surface on the substrate.
  • If you notice that, on the contrary, the plant has a nutrient deficiency, it is a good idea to start fertilising a little more. If the plant is growing unnaturally slowly and its leaves are smaller than is usual for the given species, it is likely to be undernourished. In such a case, you can try increasing the intensity of fertilisation and observe whether this has a positive effect on the plant and it begins to do better.

Dosing of basic fertilisers and additives from Advanced Hydroponics – weekly schedule:

Weeks 1-2

  • Advanced Hydroponics Grow apply at a dose of 1 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 0.5 ml.
  • Advanced Hydroponics Bloom apply at a dose of 0.5 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 0.25 ml.
  • Advanced Hydroponics Micro apply at a dose of 0.5 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 0.25 ml.
  • Root Stimulator for perfect development of the root system and Enzymes+, which among other things will improve the immune system of your plants, apply at a dose of 1 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 0.5 ml.

Week 3

  • For the third week, double the dose of all three components of the basic fertiliser, but continue to dose Root Stimulator and Enzymes+ at 1 ml. At the end of the third week, you may discontinue Root Stimulator.

Week 4

  • The dosing of the three-component fertiliser remains the same as in the third week, i.e. 2 –1 – 1 ml for hydroponics or coco and 1 – 0.5 – 0.5 ml for soil.
  • Continue to apply Enzymes+ at a dose of 1 ml.
  • Replace Root Stimulator with Growth/Bloom Excellarator at the same dose, i.e. 1 ml.

Weeks 5-6

  • Advanced Hydroponics Grow apply at a dose of 1 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 0.5 ml.
  • Advanced Hydroponics Bloom apply at a dose of 2 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 1 ml.
  • Advanced Hydroponics Micro apply at a dose of 1 ml for hydroponics and growing in coco. If you are growing in soil, apply only 0.5 ml.
  • Growth/Bloom Excellarator and Enzymes+ continue to be dosed at 1 ml for all substrates.

Weeks 7-11

  • Omit the first component of the basic nutrition, GROW.
  • BLOOM dose in the amount of 3 ml for hydroponics and coco and 1.5 ml for soil.
  • MICRO dose in the amount of 1 ml for hydroponics and coco and 0.5 ml for soil.
