Product detailed description

Apogee's cutting-edge ePAR sensor was created in 2021 as an enhancement to our ePFD sensor and was designed to measure the newly defined 400-750 nm range of ePAR radiation, which is photosynthetically active, beyond the traditional 400-700 nm range. The SQ-618-SS ePAR sensor transmits a digital signal using the Modbus RTU protocol via RS-232 or RS-485. The sensor features a durable aluminum housing that is fully submersible and designed to withstand harsh conditions, and a high quality cable terminated with pre-tinned pigtail wires for easy connection to dataloggers and controllers.

The sensor cable includes an IP68-rated stainless steel connector for marine use, making it easy to remove and replace the sensor from permanent installations for maintenance and calibration. Typical applications for ePAR sensors include measuring total ePAR intensity over plant growth in all growing environments, monitoring and adjusting grow lights, and research on plant morphogenic activity and photobiology. Many next-generation LED fixtures, the sun, and other light sources emit these newly confirmed photosynthetic wavelengths of UV and far-red, but were previously not measurable with traditional 400-700 nm PAR meters.
