Detailed information

Product detailed description

Take light measurement to the next level with the ePAR sensor

While traditional PAR sensors end their measurements at 700 nm, the latest research clearly shows that photons in the far-red region (700-750 nm) also play a key role in photosynthesis and influence the overall vitality and development of plants. That's where the SQ-616 sensor comes in, measuring extended photosynthetically active radiation (ePAR) to give you a complete and accurate picture of the light your plants are actually using.

Why is the SQ-616 a leader in its field?

This intelligent sensor was designed for professionals who demand uncompromising accuracy and reliability. Whether you're optimizing lighting for growing tomatoes, chili peppers, herbs or conducting scientific research, the SQ-616 delivers data you can rely on.

  • It captures radiation in the 400-750 nm range, allowing you to objectively evaluate modern LED fixtures and natural sunlight.
  • Direct connection to PC and Mac: With USB output and free software, you can take spot measurements, view real-time graphs and log PPFD data without the need for an additional data logger.
  • Connect the sensor to any 5V DC USB power source (e.g. powerbank) and use the internal memory to store up to 10,000 measurements. You can then simply download the data as a CSV file.
  • Individual calibration.

Measurements without compromise: in the greenhouse, in the lab and underwater

Thanks to its robust anodised aluminium construction and IP68 protection, the SQ-616 is fully waterproof and ready for deployment in the harshest conditions. You can safely submerge it to depths of up to 30 meters. It is ideal for measurements in hydroponic systems, aquariums or aquatic plant research.

Software and documentation

To make full use of the sensor, the free ApogeeConnect software for Windows and macOS is available. It allows real-time data monitoring, logging, graphing and easy export. You can download the software here. Also see the download section for full technical data and detailed procedures.
