Want to care for your garden ecologically and sustainably? Try ATAMI's new vegan fertilizers!
The Dutch company ATAMI has for many years been among the leading manufacturers of supplies for growers, especially fertilizers, substrates and equipment for indoor cultivation and hydroponics. In today’s article we will look at the brand-new range of eco-friendly VGN fertilizers, which are intended for soil cultivation both indoors and outdoors.
Many professional and home growers today realize that their hobby can have significant impacts on the environment. At Atami they therefore decided to create a range of fertilizers that would be in line with modern sustainable agriculture trends. Products from the VGN range are made from plant residues that are recycled into first-class liquid fertilizers. Unlike strong mineral fertilizers, the VGN fertilizer formula is designed to support microbial life in the soil without reducing their effectiveness. Microbes, such as bacteria, fungi, nematodes and others, play a key role in breaking down nutrients for plants, and soil without them is infertile. This applies both when growing in horticultural substrates in pots and outdoors, in beds or in a greenhouse.
- VGN fertilizers contain nutrients that are immediately available to plants.
- Amino acids, sugars and other organic compounds in VGN fertilizers feed not only the plants but also benefit important soil microbes.
- All fertilizers from the Atami VGN range have passed strict inspections by Control Union and have been approved as inputs for organic farming

VGN 5-2-2 – Basic growth fertilizer with an increased nitrogen share
VGN 5-2-2 is an organic liquid fertilizer intended to support vegetative growth, i.e. the formation of new roots, leaves and stems. It contains an increased share of nitrogen, a nutrient element that is essential for plants as part of chlorophyll and amino acids key for photosynthesis and the formation of new cells. A typical symptom of nitrogen deficiency in plants is pale coloring and yellowing of leaves. In addition to the basic NPK nutrients, VGN 5-2-2 also contains trace elements in an easily absorbable chelated form.
VGN 2-2-4 – Basic growth fertilizer with an increased potassium share
VGN 2-2-4 is an organic liquid fertilizer for the growth phase of the plant life cycle that contains an increased share of potassium. This nutrient element is classified as a macronutrient and is important for plants in regulating stomata and in flower formation. Plants affected by potassium deficiency have burned leaf edges, on which necrotic spots may appear. The pair of fertilizers VGN 2-2-4 and VGN 5-2-2 serve as the basic nutrition for the growth phase and you can combine them in adjustable ratios to meet the specific requirements of different plants according to age and species.
VGN 1-4-4 – Basic flowering fertilizer
VGN 1-4-4 is a liquid organic fertilizer for supporting flowering that contains increased amounts of phosphorus and potassium. Phosphorus is especially important for reproduction. It is part of DNA, enzymes, proteins and cell membranes. VGN 1-4-4 in combination with other products from the VGN range will provide your plants with enough basic NPK nutrients and micronutrients without the need for additional boosters. VGN 1-1-4 contains nutrients obtained by processing plant waste and the product was approved for use in organic farming.
VGN CALMAG
VGN CALMAG is a liquid calcium and magnesium supplement intended for organic farming. Calcium and magnesium are nutrient elements important in the formation of cell walls and in photosynthesis. Tap water often contains too little of these elements. If you water with soft, rain or reverse osmosis water, then an additive containing magnesium and calcium is essential. The same applies when growing in coco and other hydroponic substrates. VGN CALMAG does not contain nitrogen and will not change the NPK ratio in the nutrient solution.
