Prima Klima Azerwing vs Adjust-a-Wings

For several years the company Prima Klima, known primarily for its reliable fans and filters, has also been producing reflectors for discharge lamps. Prima Klima calls its series of reflectors Azerwing and aims to compete with the better-known manufacturer that introduced this reflector design, Adjust-a-Wings. Just like Adjust-a-Wings, the Prima Klima Azerwing reflectors are made in two sizes, M and L, which in their dimensions and recommended use correspond to their better-known competitor, and they are also available in two quality levels. The Prima Klima Azerwing reflectors without a suffix are direct competitors to the budget Adjust-a-Wings Defender line, and the Azerwing Vegagreen reflectors compete with Adjust-a-Wings' top offering, Avenger series.

In practice the reflectors use different but very similar materials, which in tests achieve very similar results in percentage of reflected light — for the cheaper Adjust-a-Wings Defender and Prima Klima Azerwing lines this is around 86% — and compared with their cheaper competitors with a different construction they mainly have the advantage of an even spread of light across the entire growing area, without pronounced so-called heat spots, i.e. places where reflected light concentrates and can locally burn a plant, while elsewhere the plant lacks light.

The more expensive variants, namely Adjust-a-Wings Avenger and Prima Klima Azerwing Vegagreen, are top-tier reflectors with reflectance between 95–98% depending on the testing methodology, and you won't find anything better on the market unless you look at systems an order of magnitude more expensive.

So far we've said that the Adjust-a-Wings and Prima klima Azerwing reflectors are almost the same and, according to growers' experience, differ in details. So what is the difference?

The first and probably most significant difference when choosing will be price. Adjust-a-Wings reflectors are about 30–50% more expensive than their younger competitors from Prima Klima Azerwing. The second big difference is installation complexity. Prima Klima Azerwing reflectors cover the center of the reflector with a special piece for better light dispersion, which makes assembly more complicated and does not show any demonstrable advantage in tests. However, it should be said that this is not a disadvantage either and, if nothing else, in my subjective view it looks more "professional". Nevertheless, assembling an Adjust-a-Wings reflector is quicker and simpler.

So it's up to you whether you choose the well-known, time-tested brand with simple installation, or the newer, cheaper brand with more demanding installation. In either case you won't go wrong and you'll have a quality home for your discharge lamps for many years!
