What should you watch to make the soil more fertile?

  • Amount of nutrients - for this we use fertilizers. If you grow outdoors, opt for organic ones. You'll be gentle on the planet and enjoy natural herbs, fruit and vegetables.
  • Humus and organic matter content – an important indicator for retaining water in the soil and providing sufficient aeration for healthy root development. Adequate levels of these soil components (humus should make up at least 2–4% of the total soil mass) can be ensured with suitable products or by adding quality compost.

If you are patient and give the soil some time before you plant the first crops, it will reward you for this “preparation time” with higher fertility. In the long term you will ensure healthy and fertile soil if you avoid chemical preparations and instead rely on purely natural nutrition and plant protection. Once it rains, don't wait until it dries out completely — loosen the soil thoroughly. Drain water away from waterlogged spots. You can also measure pH of your soil. If you find it is too acidic, we recommend regular liming. The final tip for more fertile soil is rotating the types of crops you grow in your garden or plot.
