Which respirator to choose for protection against bacteria and viruses?

One of the most widely used respirators is the FFP2 respirator. According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), this certification designation provides the wearer with protection from 95% of airborne particles with a diameter of 0.3 um or greater. According to the WHO, such protection is recommended as a minimum standard.

Proper mask fit

Thorough hand hygiene with soap and warm water is required before initial use. After hand washing, place the top of the respirator against the face and then press the bottom of the respirator against the face. When the respirator fits perfectly to your face, adjust the elastic straps to keep it in a secure position. A properly fitted respirator must fit snugly against your face and cover your mouth, nose and chin. Men should be shaved as the chin can cause leaks. When removing the mask, touch only the straps, not the part that filters the air.
